CHAPTER 10: WAIVERS

10.1 Waiver Eligibility
The waiver rules in the OTHL are based on age (by year of birth). Any mention of age in the following rules references the fact that all players of the same birth year are considered to be the same age for the calculation of waivers.

10.1.1 Age Limits
SKATERS:
Any SKATER who is 25 years old or older, will be placed on waivers if a team sends him down to the farm team. SKATERS who are 18-24 years old can be freely sent to the farm club. During the off season, waivers are not in affect.

GOALIES:
Any GOALIE who is 26 years old or older, will be placed on waivers if a team sends him down to the farm team. GOALIES who are 18-25 years old can be freely sent to the farm club. During the off season, waivers are not in affect.

10.1.2 Start of Season Waivers
Before the start of the regular season (or at a date set by the league), all SKATERS who are 25 years or older and all GOALIES who are 26 years or older, who are not on a team's pro roster will be automatically waived and able to be claimed by any team. Waiver priority will be based on the previous season.

10.2 Waiver Wire / Claiming a Player
Once a player is placed on the waiver wire, any team may put in a claim him within 24 hours. If two or more teams claim a player, the team who is the highest in the waivers priority list will get the player. If a team claims a player, he must be added to the pro roster, otherwise he will be placed on waivers. If a player is not claimed in 24 hours, he will go to the original club's farm team. If a team claims a player off waivers and subsequently waives said player, the original team may re-claim the player. Standard waiver priority rules still apply. If the original team successfully makes a waiver claim, they have the option to place said player directly into the minors. The burden is on the original team to show that they previously waived and lost rights to the player in question. Applies to the season in progress only.

10.2.1 Waiver Wire Fee
The team that claims a player, will pay $1,000,000 dollars to the team that put the player on the waiver wire as compensation.
