CHAPTER 12: INACTIVE LIST

12.0. Inactive list
The inactive list show teams Non-North American rights in the OTHL. The list is limited to six (6) slots/contracts and only players who are still active, but doesn't meet the NHL/AHL requirement are eligible to be listed on the inactive list. Prospects cannot be removed from a teams prospect list and then added to a teams inactive list.

12.1. Players without NHL, AHL or ECHL games
If a player doesn't play at least 1 NHL, AHL or ECHL game during the previous season will be removed the following offseason. Players who sign with European teams, will also be removed no matter how many NHL or AHL games they played the previous season (see 12.1.2).

12.1.1 Injured players
If a player missed the entire previous NHL (or AHL) season due to an injury, that player will not be removed from the OTHL as long as he is under contract in the NHL. If a player is unsigned, IE a UFA in the NHL and missed the entire season due to an injury, then he will removed from his OTHL roster and placed on the inactive list. As long as the player in question is not a UFA in the NHL. Then he is not eligible to be placed on the inactive list.

12.1.2 Players signing in Europe
If a player signs with a team in Europe, either during the off-season or during the on-going season in the NHL, will be removed from the OTHL during the off-season. Players signing in Europe, are eligible to be placed on the inactive list, as long as they are still under contract by there OTHL team. If a player is a unrestricted free agent the same off-season as he signs in Europe cannot be placed on a teams inactive list and will be treated as a unrestricted free agent if he returns to North America.

12.2. Retirement
If a player retires from the NHL before the OTHL season has started, he will be removed with immediate effect. If a player retires from the NHL during the OTHL season, the player is permitted to play out the season in the OTHL before he is removed. Retired players are not eligible to be added to the inactive list.

12.3. Eligible players
Players who have contract time left in the OTHL and play in Europe or in a minor league (other then AHL) in North America, are eligible for the inactive list.

12.4. Non-eligible players
Prospects (players who have yet to play a game in the NHL), retired players and players without contract in the OTHL are not eligible to be added to the inactive list.

12.5. Activating a inactive player
Once a player meets the 1 NHL game criteria, he is eligible to be activated by the team that holds his rights (IE, the team that has the player listed on his inactive list). In order to activate the player, the team just have to send a mail to the league office (ufa@othl.ca) and state that they want to activate the player. The player will then be created and he will receive a 1-year contract with his NHL salary (AAV). If the salary number differs, then the salary number for the current season (or if we are in off-season mode, the salary for the upcoming season will be used).

12.6. Altering your inactive List
To alter your teams' inactive list, just reply to the thread found in the forum. You must list your full new list not just changes you want to make.
Please don't PM this account. It is rarely accessed and only used for league announcements!
